Just south of Tel-Aviv is the laid-back port city of Jaffa. The city is ancient, and yet its acropolis remains well preserved. So ancient, in fact, that it was here that Jonah the Prophet (he of biblical times) attempted to flee, only to be swallowed by a whale at sea. Today the area is filled with excellent restaurants and bazaars and is very lively at night.
