Kiev

The capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, is home to several notable Eastern Orthodox cathedrals. St. Volodymyr's Cathedral has a yellow neo-Byzantine exterior and a beautiful gold-lined fresco interior. At St. Sophia's Cathedral, you can climb up to the old bell tower and see the ancient city from above, and St. Michael's Monastery is known for its gold domes. Other notable areas include the Khreschatyk Shopping Street and the Andriivs'kyi Descent, which connects the old town with the modern Podil neighborhood.
