Hamburg's history is tied to its port, which to this day is the second busiest in Europe. This can be seen in many forms, from the Speicherstadt Warehouse district (a UNESCO World Heritage site) to the International Maritime Museum. Beyond that, the city is quickly modernizing, with the HafenCity intended to bring a diversity of architecture and leisurely activities to the waterfront area. As of now, the main attraction to be found therein is the acoustically magnificent Elbphilharmonie. Museum aficionados will also love the Kunsthalle Hamburg, while Planten Un Blomen is considered one of Europe's best urban parks.
