FAQs about private jets to Scottsdale

When should I arrive for my charter flight to Scottsdale?

While you don't need to turn up as early as you would for a commercial flight, we do request that you aim to be here 20-30 minutes before your scheduled departure time. This helps us run a smooth, time-efficient service and ensures you can start your journey feeling fully at ease.

Can I bring my pet on a private jet flight to Scottsdale?

Pets are more than welcome on many of the private flights you can arrange through XO. Certain rules apply, depending on the breed and weight. For example, any pets that weigh more than 25 lbs will need to be leashed to the captain's chair during take-off and landing. And if your pet is on the XO restricted breeds list, don't worry – this just means that they'll need to wear a muzzle. Additionally, we require all animals that exceed 25 lbs to have their own seat on the plane.

If you're taking a shared flight, most pets won't be permitted. Exceptions apply for Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) and Service Dogs, though. To fly with an ESA aboard a shared flight, please let us know the name, breed, and weight, and show us a letter from a licensed mental health professional or medical physician. This letter needs to be dated within a year of your flight and we'll need to see it at least 48 hours before you fly.

As long as you give us the correct notice, most of the catering services should be able to give your pet some well-deserved meals too.

What is the catering like on a private jet to Scottsdale?

We know that when you take a chartered flight, you expect premium comfort. And that's exactly what we aim to provide.

Our culinary experts have curated on-flight menus with dishes and snacks that are perfect for the refined palate. Should you fly with us during the late afternoon or evening, you'll enjoy an appetizer, some bread, a beverage, an entrée, and a dessert. Breakfasts may include bagels, fresh fruit, and yogurts, while lunch will usually include light options like salads, sandwiches, and fresh vegetables or cheese trays.

We know that business passengers may want to be productive on the journey, so we aim to ensure there are high-protein options to assist with this.

And if you happen to have any special requests, please just consult us beforehand and we'll see what we can do.

Airport history

The United States Army Air Forces Army Air Forces Training Command used the airfield durng World War II, dubbing it "Thunderbird Field #2," as a flight training school for aviation cadets. Since it opened, over 5,500 students have graduated from Thunderbird #2. Over the course of its history, Thunderbird #2 grew from a small piece of isolated desert to a primary training school thanks to such notable Air Force officers as General Henry H. Arnold and Lieutenant General B.K. Yount. In November 1943, the facility reached hit 615, its peak. Arizona State Teachers College acquired the airport after the war’s end and started its own aviation program. The college soon cancelled these plans citing the distance from the college campus and the aviation program’s operating costs as the primary reasons. The Arizona Conference of Seventh-day Adventists purchased the airport in 1953 and founded Thunderbird Academy. Then in 1966, the city of Scottsdale bought the airfield portion of the academy's property, and still currently owns and operates it.
