Charleston Executive Airport
Charleston Executive Airport is a publicly owned and operated under the auspices of the Charleston County Aviation Authority. The facility primarily serves western Charleston County, including Kiawah and Seabrook Islands and downtown Charleston.
Airport history
The airport was built in just 95 days, between 1944 and 1945. For its first three years, it only served military interests, and that changed when it was transferred to Charleston County in 1948. The facility was owned and operated by the county until 1972, when the Charleston County Aviation Authority started leasing KJZI from the county. In 1975, the airport was granted fee simple to the Aviation Authority, which still owns and operates the facility to this day. It now functions as a reliever airport to Charleston International Airport.

Located in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, the airport is ten minutes from historic downtown Charleston and within minutes of the resort communities of Kiawah Island and Seabrook Island.

● The airport covers 1,373 acres and sits at an elevation of 19 feet. It has two concrete runways: 9/27 is 5,350' x 150' and 4/22 is 4,313' x 150 feet'.
● Atlantic Aviation is the fixed-base operator under contract with the Aviation Authority at the airport.
